Today was a interesting day, caring for chicks for most of it.  We started out the morning with making our brooding box for the newly hatched chicks.  That took almost an hour just trying to find all the equipment.  Then we noticed that one of the chicks seems to be having problems with one of the legs and his lack of ability to get around.  Our 2nd chick is up and around, eating and drinking but the other chick is not.

So, every hour or two, I have been having to take him out of the brooder and help him get a drink of water.  He still hasn’t eaten any food, but from what I read online, that should be ok for another day.

While we were out to prayer meeting this evening, our third chick hatched and another shell cracked.  So far that makes three hatched chicks and one on the way.

Our very first chick to crack it’s shell did not survive and was unable to exit his shell.  It was sort of sad, but the kids took it well and they are happy with the three that we have so far.

I never knew how busy one could be just by tending baby chicks. I’ll try to post some pictures of all of the chicks.  Right now, it’s just too late.
